Australian International School

The AIS U 12 Netball Girls First Team rounded off undefeated season in November winning Gold and the Division 1 ACSIS Shield for the second year in a row. ACSIS (The Athletic Conference of Singapore International Schools) is the most popular competitive league for international schools in Singapore. The team won with a score of 27-2 against Dulwich College. In fact, it was a fantastic season all round for AIS Netball, with three of the five AIS Under 12 teams in the ACSIS Netball League making it to their respective finals.

With five teams in the ACSIS Netball League, AIS fielded the most teams of any school in Singapore; a testament to the growth of the AIS Netball club in 2015. All our teams have worked hard to ensure a fantastic season and we thank our amazing coaches Ms Hosking-Potts, Ms Siew, Ms Naismith, Ms Thorn and our Head of Netball, Mrs Plant, for their dedication and support.

This has been a fabulous year for the newly-formed Sharks Netball Club.

Barklamb Family

Our family relocated to Singapore in January 2010 due to my husband’s work. Upon settling in Singapore, we were in the search for suitable schools to enrol our children into. We were considering other international schools before coming to Australian International School but we decided that AIS was the best choice for our children’s education, coinciding with our move.

One of the deciding factor before we decide on AIS is that the school provides a multicultural environment without losing the connection between living abroad and Australia. There are many opportunities outside of the classroom, including art, drama, music, sports and enrichment through CCAs. We have 3 children at AIS – year 6, year 9 and year 10 and it is important that our children stay at 1 particular school without having to change schools in a forever changing environment.

Curriculum was also an important factor for us. AIS offers the International Baccalaureate and the Australian curriculum that covers various programs, including the Australian curriculum, IB, IGCSE and HSE. Some of the subjects that are of my children’s interests are arts and design, languages and physical education providing a well-rounded education.

The school community at AIS is very engaging, and gives all family members the opportunity to be as connected as they wish. Regular family events are held, and there is always an opportunity to be on the parents association.  Students organise frequent fundraising activities that support various charities, which often tie into with the school curriculum.
